An Ice Cream Tears Production

Best Absurd Film
Honorable MentionAbsurd Film Festival · 2027A focused meditation on scarcity, ritual, and the eternal recurrence of desire.

The Motion Picture
On his day off, a man wants weed and beer. He cracks a beer, takes a sip, and discovers he is out of weed. He gets more, grinds it, packs it, and smokes—only to reach for one final sip and discover the beer is gone.
The cycle of life begins again.
A Director's Statement
We want something, get it, enjoy it briefly, and almost immediately discover the next thing we lack.
WEED&BEER reduces that deeply human pattern to its dumbest and most literal form. The stakes are incredibly small, but the feeling is real. The film treats this ridiculous ritual with complete cinematic seriousness.
Its production sound makes every crack, grind, inhale, and sip feel physical, while its orchestral conclusion treats an empty beer like a monumental tragedy.
Because I wrote, directed, performed, photographed, edited, colored, and mixed the film myself, there is also meta-comedy in the enormous amount of filmmaking labor devoted to one man trying to maintain a buzz.
— Jake Crossman
